Pritty Shriny Pt.1

THANG DO X SUE BEYER
The Wandering Room Melbourne

BTS only, see Pt.2 for final outcome.

Shriny was conceived as a melting pot of all things extravagant and spiritual. In the artists’ minds, Sue Beyer and Thang Do envisioned a realm where orientalism and pop art joined, where the boundary between East and West got eradicated, and where old-school traditionalism and postmodernism met to create “Neo-modernism” – a medley of idealistic manifestations towards wishful thinking and total human power.

'Pritty Shriny' is an installation that uses various objects and mediums to playfully examine the collaborative process between Thang Do and Sue Beyer. Reflection and performance are joined with painting, 3D printed objects, sound, and digital video which are then ‘glued’ together conceptually using instructions placed in the metadata of an NFT.

Paired is a series of curated exhibitions pairing two Naarm/Melbourne-based artists. The paired practitioners may choose to collaborate in some way or simply exhibit side by side. Amongst these, many familiar names have been part of the program including Archie Moore (Golden Lion Recipient – Venice Biennale), Ara Dolatian, Sarah Werkmeister, Hootan Heydari, etc., and most importantly, the founding directors, Angela Rossitto and David Creed.
